FUNDING

Failure of the state to fully fund basic education has already caused multiple years of painful budget cuts. All of the potential cuts for this year would take away programs that are important for students’ well-being, like sports and music. Our board has led the community in advocating with our local legislators for increased funding. 

 

ON-TIME GRADUATION RATE

This is a current goal for our board. We started a task force on grading practices to advise us on how to make grades fairer and more consistent. Each school’s improvement plan includes the goal of developing a sense of belonging among its students. School administrators now track each student’s progress. Credit retrieval programs have been implemented. 

 

PROTECTING EQUITABLE, INCLUSIVE SCHOOLS

The federal government is now supporting efforts to enact book bans, whitewash our history, and put LGBTQ individuals back in the closet. I will be outspoken and stand firmly to protect public education in our community.
